For its innovative techniques, multi-agency cooperation, and impactful results, the Central Valley Hydrology Study has received two awards. The Floodplain Management Association (FMA) honored the CVHS team with the 2014 FMA Award for Excellence, and the American Society of Civil Engineers, Sacramento Section, gave the team its Water Project of the Year 2014 award.
CVHS has developed updated systemwide hydrology for the Sacramento and San Joaquin River basins. The study was sponsored by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and conducted by the US Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and David Ford Consulting Engineers. Results of the study have been used for DWR's Central Valley Flood Protection Plan and Central Valley Floodplain Evaluation and Delineation Program. CVHS will serve as the basis for flood risk assessment and reduction studies for years to come.
